Shepherd’s Loch is an off-grid glamping site located on a working farm in the beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside. Families, friends and individuals can enjoy staying in one of our unique, rustic huts which are situated around six small lochs. Crannoch, a yurt, is right at the water’s edge and has a hot tub for guests to enjoy; Otter is built into a small hillside and it is large round window overlooks the main loch; Dragonfly is a wooden wigwam with its own private yard; Graham’s Bothy is a mini house with a hot tub and front veranda overlooking a loch; Beehive is a spacious yurt and hexagonal hut with windows on all sides; and The Wheel House, is a converted ship’s wheelhouse with the original ship’s wheel and other features still in place. Our huts sleep between two to six people. We accept single night bookings in Wigwam and The Wheel House and a minimum two-night stay in our other accommodation.
We allow campers to pitch their tents overnight for a small fee.
All huts have their own private kitchenette, toilet and shower as well as a wood burner, camping stove, barbecue and cool box or fridge. We provide all bedding, towels, cooking pots, crockery and cutlery as well as a complimentary bag of logs.
Children are welcome to stay in all the accommodation and families can rent the site for special occasions. We allow dogs in all-out huts except for the yurts.
Guests can fish on the lochs which are stocked with trout. There are also kayaks free for guests to use, a children’s play area and a zipline. For those rainy days, we have the Fishing Hut where guests can use the communal seating area and children can enjoy the various table-top games we provide. Our fire pit is the ideal place for guests to gather in the evening. We have a small on-site shop with a supply of snacks, and souvenirs as well as fuel for the wood burners and barbecues.
Visits to the farm can be arranged on request.
Much of our accommodation is made from recycled materials. We have our own waterwheel which, along with solar panels, generates our 12V electricity supply. We do not have Wi-Fi.
As well as offering guests the perfect opportunity to get away and relax, Shepherd’s Loch is the ideal place to base yourself if you want to explore the lovely Aberdeenshire countryside and the villages and beaches along the coast. We are only a short distance from Fyvie Castle and Duff House in Banff and for the nature enthusiast Trouphead, RSPB Scotland site, is close by.
