Welcome Cullen Bay Hotel

We are delighted to welcome Cullen Bay Hotel as a Supporter of the North East 250. Having been involved with the route since its early days as a Business Member, the decision to become a Supporter at the end of 2025 reflects a shared commitment to showcasing the Moray coast to those exploring the North East of Scotland. Located directly on the route in the seaside town of Cullen, the hotel has long been a natural stopping point for North East 250 travellers, with sea views over the Moray Firth and an ideal position for exploring the surrounding area.
At the hotel, guests are met with a friendly welcome and a relaxed atmosphere that reflects the character of the Moray coast. Comfortable rooms offer views across the bay and surrounding area, while the restaurant focuses on local produce and traditional dishes, including award-winning Cullen skink, the smoked haddock, potato and onion soup that originated in the town. A lounge bar with a wide selection of whisky provides a comfortable space to unwind, while outdoor seating, a children’s play area and ample free parking make it easy to come and go as plans take shape.
From the hotel, visitors can head out in all directions on foot. Heading west along the former railway line directly in front of the hotel towards Portknockie, a gentle coastal walk offers open views across the coastline, passing cliffs and quiet stretches of shoreline before reaching the famous Bow Fiddle Rock. Travelling in the opposite direction, the route crosses the striking Cullen Viaduct and leads into the town centre, where independent shops, cafés and antique stores can be explored at a relaxed pace.
A short walk from the hotel also leads towards the beach, passing the renowned Cullen Links golf course before opening out onto the wide sands of Cullen Beach. This area lends itself to slower days by the sea, from walking the shoreline to relaxing with a coffee or a session in the beachside sauna. Those looking for something more active can take part in water sports such as kayaking, surfing or paddle boarding. Beyond the immediate coastline, coastal castles and world-famous distilleries are also within easy reach, allowing visitors to shape each day around personal interests without the need to travel far.
