Smiddy Banff is a contemporary jewellery and silversmithing centre located in the historic coastal town of Banff, Aberdeenshire.
Rooted in Banff’s rich metalworking heritage, Smiddy combines traditional craft skills with contemporary making, creating a welcoming space where visitors can experience the world of jewellery and silversmithing first-hand.
Visitors can browse our gallery showcasing handcrafted jewellery and silverware by local and Scottish makers, discover unique gifts inspired by craft and place, or book a creative experience or workshop. Whether you are making your first silver ring, creating a sand-cast pendant inspired by Banff’s coastline, crafting a copper bowl, or exploring traditional silversmithing techniques, our workshops offer memorable hands-on experiences for individuals, couples and small groups. To ensure each participant receives plenty of individual guidance, workshop places are limited and should be booked in advance through our website before visiting.
Smiddy also supports emerging and established makers through artist residencies, studio access and professional development opportunities, helping to keep jewellery and silversmithing skills alive in North-East Scotland.
Located just a short walk from Banff’s harbour, beaches and historic town centre, Smiddy offers visitors a chance to slow down, learn something new and connect with the area’s creative heritage.
Whether you’re exploring the North East 250 route, looking for a unique experience during your stay, or searching for a special piece of handcrafted jewellery or silverware to take home, you’ll find a warm welcome at Smiddy Banff.
