Specification

The Museum of Scottish Lighthouses tells the history of Scotland’s lighthouses from 1786 to the present day using artefacts from our Recognised Collection of National Significance, including the largest display of lighthouse lenses in the country.

Included as part of admission is a tour of the historic Kinnaird Head Lighthouse, preserved today as a manned lighthouse. This unique site was originally a castle, and converted to Scotland’s first mainland light in 1787.

Our enthusiastic guides bring its history to life, before allowing you to see the breathtaking views from the top. The Museum boasts a well-stocked shop, and a nice café with views overlooking the Moray Firth.
