Benriach has always been a distillery of creative flair, and we bring that same energy to our commitment to the North East E250. We’re dedicated to showcasing the magic of the North East – a place where world-class whisky, historic landscapes, and coastal beauty collide. By supporting this route, we’re inviting travellers to step off the beaten track and discover the experiences that make our corner of Speyside truly special.

A Legacy of Innovation
Founded in 1898 by John Duff on the site of the old Riach Farm, Benriach draws its water from a mineral-rich aquifer deep beneath the distillery grounds. While its history is long, the brand is best known for its unconventional approach to whisky making. Under the expert guidance of Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie, the distillery produces three distinct styles of spirit:

●      Classic Unpeated: The smooth, fruit-forward Speyside style.

●      Highland Peated: A rare, smoky tradition for the region.

●      Triple Distilled: For an even more refined and elegant character.

Explore the Distillery and Visitor Centre
Located just south of Elgin, our welcoming Visitor Centre is a must-stop for anyone driving the North East 250. Designed with materials from local suppliers and a palette inspired by the Speyside landscape, our visitor centre offers a warm, contemporary space to discover our World of Flavour.

Experience Highlights:

●      The Benriach Experience: Embark on an immersive journey with The Benrich Experience, a comprehensive tour that celebrates our rich history and creative future. The journey of discovery continues with a tasting of four expressions, a perfect showcase of our diverse flavour profiles. To conclude, we invite you to shake things up, creating a signature cocktail designed to highlight the versatility of Benriach single malt.

●      Grape And Grain: Following a tour of the distillery, uncover the breadth of casks maturing inside Warehouse 13. Discover years worth of eclectic cask use as you are guided through our oldest warehouse, exploring the wine casks used by our Master Blender, Rachel Barrie. Your visit will conclude with an exploration of the flavours created from the different wine casks, as you enjoy a tasting of 5 limited releases and single cask bottlings, all to be savoured with a food pairing

●      The Bar & Shop: Not looking for a full tour? Relax in our tasting lounge with a dram or find the perfect bottle or souvenir in our boutique shop.[1]

Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or just beginning your whisky journey, Benriach offers a welcoming atmosphere that mirrors the rugged beauty of the Moray coast. Our “drivers’ dram” kits also ensure that those behind the wheel don’t miss out on the tasting experience—you can take the samples with you to enjoy once the day’s driving is done.

Conveniently located for those exploring the Speyside section of the route, Benriach Distillery is situated just south of Elgin, directly off the A95. Our accessible location makes Benriach an effortless addition to any itinerary, whether you are traveling by car or prefer to leave the keys behind. For those opting for public transport, the distillery is easily reached via a short bus journey from either Elgin or Rothes.

Our partnership with the North East 250 is made even more special by the company we keep; as you travel the route, we invite you to also visit our sister distillery, The Glendronach, nestled in the rolling hills of the Forgue valley, near Huntly.
