Elgin’s Christmas Light Switch On

With Christmas just around the corner, we are enjoying all the festivities that the North East 250 has to offer.

Local towns in the North East are all coming together for the light switch on and we made our way to the Elgin’s Christmas Light Switch on and as fans of Christmas we were very excited to see what Elgin had to offer!

When we arrived the first thing you were greeted by was a  stage and with a whole schedule full of talent everyone was in for a treat.

The centre was lined with stalls of local businesses and local restaurants, we tasted some of local cuisine and it was divine! We indulged a little too much but is that even possible during the Christmas period?

It was amazing to see a whole community come together and support the local town.

The highlight for us was the reindeer led by Elgin and District Pipe band which was truly amazing as they were all dressed up for Christmas, the Christmas magic truly was in the air! It felt like the whole of Elgin had turned out to celebrate the light switch on and everyone was loving it!

There was so much to do for little ones – children (and adults!) can write to Santa and post it in the post box, with entertainment on every hour from the Moray Concert Brass band performing to Disney’s famous princesses taking the stage. Then the excitement of Santa and his reindeer marching along the high street, we have never seen children react with such excitement! There’s something truly special about Christmas and Elgin business district did put on a magical event!

We are excited for our next Christmas Town event to attend, where would you all suggest?! We love hearing from you.
